The first movie (upper left, T1) shows an image volume acquired in the left breast of a 67-year-old female normal volunteer. The second image volume (upper right, T2) was acquired 15 weeks later, taking care to scan the same location and from the same direction as before. By playing the movies simultaneouly, or navigating in the movies independently, the viewer can try to compare the scans and experience the difficulties in finding common landmarks.
In the third movie, T1 has been registered onto T2 using an affine transformation (left). Even better alignment was achieved using non-linear registration, displayed in the fourth movie. For ease of comparison, T2 has been included in the right half of the movies. By playing or navigating through the movies the two scans can be compared very easily. The black area to the left of T1 and at the beginning of the movie is a result of imperfect overlap between the two scans. The great overall similarity shows the accuracy of registration. Small changes, like the increase in size of the cyst in the center right of the volume at 3/4 of playing time, can be appreciated easily (particulalrly in the non-linear registration).
To move to a particular frame in the movies, or to scan through the volumes more rapidly, use the Fast Forward/Fast Reverse buttons on the lower right, or click on the sliding Position Indicator at the bottom and move it left or right with the mouse button pressed.
